This international fishing harbour in northern Denmark serves as a gateway to the North Atlantic, with ferry services operating to Norway, the Faroe Islands, Iceland and the Shetland Islands. The newest of its kind in Denmark, the Port of Hanstholm acts as both a fishing and a commercial hub.

Modest port facilities include a café serving hot and cold beverages, passenger lounges and a selection of vending machines.


The nearby town provides a more comprehensive range of shops and also offers money changing facilities.

Ferries departing from the Port of Hanstholm have impeccable facilities for the disabled, providing specially-fitted cabins, easy wheelchair access and disabled persons' toilets. Staff are happy to assist anyone with a disability. Parking is available both long and short-term stays.

Ferry Services


Hanstholm's modern harbour manages traffic from west Denmark to various destinations in Europe. Ferries depart to Egersund (6 hours, 30 minutes), Haugesund (11 hours) and Bergen in Norway (16 hours), operated by Fjord Line. Some ferries stop at all three destinations, while others do not. There are up to eight departures per week in peak season.

Another routing to Norway is run by Master Ferries, with ferries travelling from Hanstholm to Kristiansand (3 hours), with two or three departures daily. The Smyril Line connects Denmark to Iceland, the Faroes and the Shetland Islands once a week in peak season only.
